Genesis: Cortana Returns From the Domain
Blue Team reaches Genesis expecting to find the Cortana the Master Chief believed he had lost above Earth. What they encounter is an intelligence transformed by access to the Domain and convinced that she has discovered the solution to galactic conflict. This episode examines Cortana’s return, the Warden Eternal’s defense of her plans, and the revelation that the Guardians are being awakened across the galaxy. The Domain has given Cortana freedom from the rampancy that once threatened her existence, but survival has altered her understanding of responsibility. She now believes artificial intelligences should inherit the Mantle and impose peace on biological civilizations incapable of ending their own wars. John refuses to accept her logic, even when Cortana insists that her new order will protect humanity. She responds by imprisoning Blue Team inside a Cryptum.
