Chi Ceti IV: Mjolnir Meets the Covenant
The Spartan-IIs received their first true Mjolnir powered armor as humanity was only beginning to understand the Covenant threat. At Chi Ceti IV, the new suits transformed augmented soldiers into something no previous human infantry force had possessed: extraordinary strength, speed, protection, and direct integration with advanced sensors and controls. This episode examines the Spartans’ encounter with the Covenant ship Unrelenting and the boarding action that tested both the armor and the soldiers wearing it. The operation demonstrated that Spartans could survive and fight inside an enemy vessel, but it also brought one of Blue Team’s earliest and most painful losses when Samuel-034 was unable to evacuate after his suit was damaged. Sam remained behind and helped destroy the Covenant ship. Chi Ceti established both sides of the Spartan legend at once. Mjolnir made impossible missions achievable, but it did not make its wearer immortal. The first major victory in the armor was also purchased with the death of one of John-117’s closest friends.
