Circinius IV and the Destruction of Corbulo Academy
Corbulo Academy trained the sons and daughters of influential military families for future service in a conflict most cadets still understood as a struggle against human rebellion. The Covenant attack on Circinius IV destroyed that world in a matter of hours and showed a generation of future officers that the old war had become irrelevant. This episode examines the assault on the academy, the collapse of its defenses, and the intervention of John-117 and Blue Team during one of the early deployments of the Spartan-IIs against the Covenant. Cadets who had spent their time debating the legitimacy of the Insurrection suddenly confronted Sangheili, Kig-Yar, and Mgalekgolo whose objectives had nothing to do with human politics. Thomas Lasky and a handful of others escaped, but most of the academy and the planet’s population did not.
