Regret’s Assault on New Mombasa
The Prophet of Regret’s assault on New Mombasa brings Covenant warfare directly into one of Earth’s major cities. After penetrating the orbital defenses, Regret’s forces deploy infantry, armor, aircraft, and Scarab walkers around the city and the nearby Forerunner structure buried beneath East Africa. This episode examines the battle from the perspective of a defending military trying to contain an enemy whose real objective remains unclear. The Master Chief and Marine forces fight across bridges, streets, industrial zones, and fortified positions while Regret’s carrier remains the center of the invasion. When the Prophet realizes the scale of the human response and the significance of Earth, he withdraws abruptly into slipspace from inside the city. The jump produces a devastating shockwave and leaves New Mombasa badly damaged. Regret escapes, but the UNSC In Amber Clad follows him through the rupture.
