The Servants of the Abiding Truth and the Blooding Years
The end of the Covenant did not convince every Sangheili that the old faith had been false. The Servants of the Abiding Truth represented religious traditionalists who opposed the Arbiter’s reforms and viewed cooperation with humanity as a betrayal of Sangheili identity. This episode examines the faction’s role in the Blooding Years, the violent civil conflict that spread across Sanghelios after the Human-Covenant War. Under leaders including Avu Med ’Telcam, the movement combined spiritual conservatism with political opposition to Thel ’Vadam. Their campaign became even more complicated when elements of ONI covertly supported Sangheili instability, hoping that continued internal conflict would prevent a former enemy from becoming strong enough to threaten humanity again. The result was a war in which religious conviction, clan rivalry, foreign interference, and postwar insecurity reinforced one another. The Servants demonstrate that destroying an empire does not automatically destroy the ideas that made people willing to fight for it.
